U.S. Customs Form: CBP Form I-95 – Crewman’s Landing Permit

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Form I-95 is the Crewman’s Landing Permit which allows the crew of a vessel entering the United States to come ashore even if they do not have the typical visas required for entry into the U.S.  Most countries around the world have signed onto agreements that permit ship crews to enter their territory temporarily while the vessel is in port.  These crew typically require a special carnet which vouches for their history working in the industry to give Customs some assurance that they will not jump ship and attempt to immigrate illegally.  This crewman’s landing permit must be completed before the crew can come ashore even briefly during their ship’s visit to a U.S. port.
